Ohio gets rocked by a potent winter storm late overnight and early this morning. It is starting to pull out and allow for some lighter ice and snow totals as we go through late morning. The entire storm will be coming to an end from west to east.
The main band of snow produced a widespread band of 4-6″ from the Columbus area through Dover, Carrollton and Youngstown. Dayton and Cincinnati saw slightly less snow with icing in southern Ohio in Jackson and Lancaster to Wheeling, WV. A .10″-.25″ of freezing rain accumulating was widespread with isolated spots seeing slightly more.

9:30 current radar
As of 9:30am the moderate to heavy snow that is leftover resides mainly in Northeast Ohio. You can see the dark blue colors from Canton to Canfield and Cortland. That’s where half-inch per hour (or greater) snow is falling. When all said and done some areas across Tuscawaras to Columbiana and Mahoning County might see 7-8″ in spots.
Snow will pull out of the state early afternoon. A few lake effect snow showers are possible in the northeast. They should not result in much additional accumulation till evening. More organized lake effect will try to form and be scattered across a good section of the state. Lake Erie will have help from the other lakes upstream. An additional coating to 2″ is possible where snow bands persist.
