Rounds of thunderstorms in a very tropical environment meant lots and lot of rain. Some spots across northern Ohio ended up seeing a few inches of water falling from the sky. This meant broken rainfall records for the day. In some cities and towns it was the most day that fell in one day going back a few years.
Widespread amounts of two inches were measured. A sampling of some of the cities is above. These are just total rainfall amounts from one day. Many areas saw additional thunderstorms on Thursday meaning isolated spots saw a couple more inches during the course of the last few days.
Parma saw some of the worst flooding near Big Creek. Take a look at this dramatic video below from Donald Mullins.
You can see the streaks of where the heavy rain was yesterday in the radar image below. This was from around 7:30pm.
While a little snapshot of where the heavy rain was on a radar image is not the best representation of total rainfall you can still see where some of the heavier amounts would come from. The image below shows the storm totals over a 12 hour period. This is a radar measurement.
