Good afternoon everyone and hope you all have stayed warm across Michigan. We are about to be looking at a pretty active 24 hours across Michigan, we have many advisories out across the State right now ranging from Winter Weather Advisors to three Winter Storm Warnings for the U.P.. In the Winter Storm Warnings for the counties of Delta, Menominee and Southern Schoolcraft County. These areas could pick up 6-10″ of snow. The Warning is is effect from 11pm tonight through 7pm tomorrow. For the rest of the U.P. we have Winter Weather Advisories out for 4-7″ of snow and that will fall from late tonight through tomorrow evening as well. Plan on snow covered roads across the area tonight and into tomorrow

As we work our way south now to Northern Lower Michigan and here we also have Winter Weather Advisories across the entire area. This Advisory is in effect from 11pm tonight through 7pm tomorrow as well and you can expect 4-7″ of snow across the entire area. Now by mid day tomorrow the snow will begin to mix with and then eventually change to rain by late afternoon before gradually ending by evening.

Western Lower Michigan: Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 1am tonight through 2pm tomorrow as we are looking for 3-5″ of snow for many before we mix with rain and eventually go over to rain. There is a chance of a brief period of freezing rain across the lower Counties in Western Michigan especially along and south of I-94 before the changeover to rain. The afternoon will feature rain and gusty winds and temps rising into the lower 40’s so any snowfall from overnight tonight and tomorrow morning should begin to melt before the cold front moves in tomorrow evening.

Southeast Lower Michigan: Winter Weather Advisories are in effect here as well from 11pm tonight through 1pm tomorrow. Expect snow to move in tonight and become quite heavy early tomorrow morning and be heavy right during the morning rush hour commute in the Detroit Metro. Right now I am calling for 3-5″ of snow area wide across Southeast Lower Michigan with up to 6′” possible up in the Thumb region. Snow will begin to mix and then eventually change to rain like many other areas across Michigan and temps will soar into the lower 40’s tomorrow afternoon with gusty winds gusting to around 40mph by mid afternoon. If you have to commute to work tomorrow morning plan to leave quite a bit early as roads will be snow covered and slippery tomorrow morning as the snow will be falling at a heavy clip.
